Our Clinic Story

We love babies! Such amazing little beings.  We love the way they stare so calmly and intently in to your eyes.  We love they way they move and explore their tiny little fingers.  We love the way they create so much love in the lives of their families.

Bloom supports families from early pregnancy,  through birth and the weeks after birth.  We believe this continuity helps those we care for to grow, birth and nurture healthy babies.  We also believe this continuity is important because it allows us to form a relationship with our clients, and it is that relationship, along with a commitment to wellness and informed decision making, which leads to healthy births and babies.
We understand that you likely have lots of questions.  We make sure we have the time to answer these questions.  Please don’t feel shy to bring a list with you to your midwife visits or send us an email if you have breastfeeding questions! Know that there is no pressure and no judgement.  Our team is here to provide you with the information and resources you need in order for you to make the best, healthiest decisions for you and your baby.  We are not here to tell you what to do but instead to nurture you so that you become an expert advocate and decision maker for your family.  Learning the art of making informed medical decisions will serve you for the long term as a parent.
We integrate breastfeeding throughout our entire care because that is the best way to help you succeed.  We offer a complete range of breastfeeding services and supplies because we want to ensure you get the expert help you need, right when you need it.
There was a time when I was a young woman afraid to give birth and pretty certain breastfeeding would be painful and wouldn’t work out for me. But then I started studying the history of midwifery and medicine at university and I became curious about birth. And that curiosity led me to becoming a midwife and then a lactation consultant. I have now gained years of experience helping women to birth and breastfeed their babies. I am also the mother of two and I certainly have learned a lot from my personal experiences birthing and breastfeeding.
You don’t need to become a midwife or lactation consultant to birth and to breastfeed; instead, I founded Bloom Community Midwives and Bloom Breastfeeding Center with the goals of sharing what I’ve learned and improving access to great resources, expertise and products. Bloom’s mission is to nurture health, connection and joy for you and your baby. Helping you to have a healthy birth and positive breastfeeding experience are wonderful ways to achieve this goal!
As a midwife, a lactation consultant and a mom, I want you to feel well supported and ready for the amazing journey ahead!
