Midwifery

Heba Al-Nashef, Registered Midwife, BSc.,  MSc.

I chose midwifery to empower clients to make their own choices about their body and their healthcare. In my work, I take pride in being passionate and committed to continuity of care. As well as supporting your informed decision, including where you choose to birth; whether at BC Women's, St. Paul's or your own home.

I have been a Midwife for ten years. I started working after I obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Midwifery in 2008 from Jordan. Two years later, I completed a Master’s Degree in Midwifery in the UK, which had opened my eyes to a different model of care, waterbirth and home birth. In 2013, I practised in Winnipeg for 2.5 years. Half of my clients birthed at the Winnipeg Birth Centre where we offered waterbirth and a variety of physiologic and natural birth options. I am hoping that one day Vancouver will have a birth centre, so women have an additional choice of birthplace.

I always wanted to live on the West coast, that search led to Vancouver and Bloom in 2016, where I have established excellent collegial relationships with the OB and nursing teams at SPH and BCWH. We offer primary maternity care for our clients and a wide variety of pain relief options including epidurals. I am thrilled to meet you and provide care for you and your family.
