Zoë Hodgson, Registered Midwife, PhD

TEAM Poppy

After completing my PhD in Scotland, I came to Vancouver in 2005 with my husband of only two weeks! I worked at BC Women’s Hospital as Director of Women’s Health Research for many years, before following my calling and completing midwifery training at UBC.

Prior to joining Bloom, I  worked at the Midwifery Group and the South Community Birth Program where I caught hundreds and hundreds of babies! I truly believe I have the best job in the world and am thrilled by the opportunity to run Bloom with my practice partner, Kelsey. I can't wait to meet you and support you on this brilliant ride that is parenthood!

In addition to my work as a clinician, I am a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Medicine at UBC, where I combine my passion for baby catching with my love for research and teaching. I have been a member of the Children & Women's UBC Research Ethics Board since 2007 as a research reviewer. I am also the Vice President of the College of Midwives of British Columbia, our regulating body.

I love spending time outdoors with my partner, Jules, our children, Nola and Oban, and rescue dog, Ru. I also love trail running and yoga, practicing yoga as often as possible in order to stretch out from all those funny positions I find myself in at births. I'm a life-long plant eater and love spending time in the kitchen.

We would like to acknowledge that the land on which we provide care is the unceded territory of the Coast Salish Peoples, including the territories of the xʷməθkwəy̓əm (Musqueam), Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish), Stó:lō and Səl̓ílwətaʔ/Selilwitulh (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations.
