TEAM Poppy

After completing my PhD in Scotland, I came to Vancouver in 2005 with my husband of only two weeks! I worked at BC Women’s Hospital as Director of Women’s Health Research for many years, before following my calling and completing midwifery training at UBC.

Prior to joining Bloom, I  worked at the Midwifery Group and the South Community Birth Program where I caught hundreds and hundreds of babies! I truly believe I have the best job in the world. I am now thrilled by the opportunity to direct Bloom and practice with my wonderful colleagues.

I can't wait to meet you and support you on this brilliant ride that is parenthood!

In addition to my work as a clinician, I am a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Medicine at UBC, where I combine my passion for baby catching with my love for research and teaching. I am the Clinical Lead for the Midwives Association of BC. In addition, I have been a member of the Children & Women's UBC Research Ethics Board since 2007 as a research reviewer. I am also a registrant member of the Professional Practice and Standards Committee of the BC College for Nurses and Midwives, our regulating body.

I love spending time outdoors with my partner, Jules, our children, Nola and Oban, and rescue dog, Ru. I also love trail running and yoga, practicing yoga as often as possible in order to stretch out from all those funny positions I find myself in at births. I'm a life-long plant eater and love spending time in the kitchen.
